Most Popular Songs/Music Themes from Games

Music is one of the main components game producers use in order to heighten player immersion. Just like we cannot imagine online sports betting without Bet.co.za registration, we cannot imagine games without music. Typically, composers create a music theme for specific characters, areas, cinematics, etc. However, every now and then players come across an in-game section with an amazing tune that they can’t get enough of and their love for the game only increases their attachment to that song.

These songs can be from end credits, from a game trailer, an in-game pub, or basically, anything game related. If you have been a hardcore gamer for a long time and tried different games that were popular at the time, you must have heard about these songs. So, here are my picks for the top songs/music themes from video games.

Original Theme from Tetris

Although it may seem like simple theme music, we cannot dispute the fact that the Tetris theme is still popular today, especially among the fans of dubstep. After all, can you name any other tune that you can play in a 10-hour loop and not get bored? What do you think 10 hours is too much? Then why does that video have over 4 million views on YouTube? Because it is awesome, enough said!

Mortal Kombat Theme Song

Anyone who played Mortal Kombat knows exactly what I am talking about. It is the song that puts you in a state of frenzied bloodlust and evokes an irresistible urge to start punching things. Mortal Kombat franchise has been around for decades but its original theme song still remains unsurpassed. And let’s be real can you imagine a theme song that’s going to beat the original one? Of course not.

Jonathan Coulton – Still Alive  – Portal

Portal is a truly unique and original game, and if you like puzzles and problem-solving, it’s probably one of your favorite games ever. Undoubtedly one of the best rewards for beating the game is the end credit song Still Alive. Despite cold and dark lyrics, the melody is really cheerful which makes the song catchy and funny at the same time.

Ain’t Nuthin’ But a ‘G’ Thang – GTA: San Andreas

GTA has an awesome soundtrack so it’s difficult to pick a single song that we all agree on is the best one. So, for me, this is one of the most gangster songs out there, and playing GTA is all about that thug life, which is why I picked “Ain’t Nuthin’ But a ‘G’ Thang.”  from Snoop and Dr. Dre

Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines Soundtrack

The famous VtM Bloodlines and the legend that says if you mention the game someone will reinstall it. This is probably one of the best vampire games out there, and the soundtrack was spot on. Probably the first song that comes to mind is the end credits one Lacuna Coil – Swamped, but the song that plays when you enter The Last Round and the one from The Asp Hole are both amazing. I bet we are all hoping that in the Bloodlines 2 will have just as awesome soundtrack.

Static X – The Only – Need for Speed Underground

There is no game that is packed with adrenalin rush songs as much as the games from Need for Speed franchise. I bet that if you played NFS games you discovered at least 5 artists that you love even today. For me, if I had to pick the song I liked the best it is “The Only” from Static X.
